Liberty Partnerships presents Books for Bing!

Books for Bing is a literary treasure hunt for all ages! Created to inspire connection, strengthen communities, and spread the joy of reading, Books for Bing is a new local initiative brought to you by Binghamton University Liberty Partnerships.

Connection is perhaps one of the most influential contributors to individuals’ happiness. Sometimes, though, connection can be difficult. Whether we are caught up in our daily lives - work, school, that never ending to-do list – or we are caught up in our own minds - struggling to overcome fears and anxieties that drain our mental health. Books for Bing is an easy way to engage with the community around you and simply connect.

With the help of Liberty students, donated books are wrapped and distributed around the Southern Tier for unsuspecting people to discover. These books are not just any books, though. These books are donated by kind souls, for all ages and from all genres, with messages written inside about why the book is special.

It is through these messages and books we aim to connect!

For our October launch, Books for Bing is participating in Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 1st -7th) by encouraging more dialogue regarding mental health, featuring local resources, and sponsoring “Mental Health Break” activities.

  • Sunday – Join us at Barnes and Noble as we kick off Books for Bing and celebrate Mark Alan for whom Books for Bing is dedicated. Rob Perez will perform with a special showing of Mark’s art.

  • Mindfulness Monday – Mind your mind and take a free mental health screening. Take the time to get in tune with yourself and the community surrounding you for #MindfulnessMonday.

  • Taco ‘Bout it Tuesday - Enjoy conversation with your support network of friends and family over tacos. Check in with each other and ask “how are you?” and take the time to really #TacoBoutIt!

  • Take a Walk Wednesday – Boost your happy chemicals and relieve stress by joining us for a walk outside with #BingWalksWednesday.

  • Thoughtful Thursday – Eeyore told us once, “A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.” Share a thought for others and celebrate Winnie the Pooh with #ThoughtfulThursday

  • Flaunt It Friday – Celebrate you with #FlauntItFriday! Show us your best self and be proud of all that is you.

  • Self-Care Saturday – Join us for pop up yoga as we partake in some very important self-care. Remember to breathe! #SelfCareSaturday
